Photography Gear That I Use

This is most of the gear that I use on a daily basis. I compiled this list in order to let people see different gear that may suit their needs. Also provided is a summary of how it has been working and customer service if it was used. I am not sponsored by any of these products in any way.

  • Nikon Z8

A superb camera that is great for field work. Fairy easy to use and hard to master. Auto tracking and focus can be challenging at times but has worked pretty well so far. I chose Nikon from my father’s reccomendation and no other reason.

  • Telephoto camera lens with camouflage cover on wood table.

    Nikkor Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR

Nice zoom lens. Heavyish but effective. Auto focus and tracking is plenty fast. Great clarity and sharpness, performs over my current skill level. I chose this as a great general purpose wildlife lens (and way cheaper than the primes).

Nikon why in the world is there no Arca (or other) mount with a way to attack a sling to the foot?

  • Nikkor MC 105mm f/2.8 S camera lens on wooden surface.

    Nikkor Z 105mm f/2.8 VR S

My macro and sometimes portrait lens. I use it less than I would like because the 180-600 is so much fun. This lens does a great job and I have zero complaints so far.

  • NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4 S camera lens with lens hood on wooden surface.

    Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S

My people lens. Indoor/ourdoor events and a general purpose lens. Works ok so far. My only complaint is the lens hood does not snap into place which allows it to slowly back its self off.

  • Godox Flash V860 III

Works great, long battery life, fine alternative to Nikon’s.

  • Close-up of a Nikon Z series camera with an orange L-bracket mount on a wooden surface.

    3 Legged Thing Zooey-QD L-Bracket

L bracket Arca mount, ligtweight, what else is there to say? Was missing a screw required to install it from the manufacturer. After a quick email conversation they mailed me one from the UK and I had it very quickly.

  • Black Rapid Sport Left Handed Breathe Camera Strap

After using a Peak Design Slide Camera Strap that was good but not comfortable or user friendy with a backpack, I changed to this one. Left handed version allows the camera to hand on my left side where I prefer to carry it. Absolutely great sling!

  • Black and silver camera tripod with folded legs on wooden surface

Vanguard VEO37+ 234AB Aluminum Travel Tripod with VEO BH-1102 Ballhead

Fairly light weight, easy to adjust, and great for macro photography. It is not the most stable tripod I have used due to its skinny legs and neck but works pretty well for on-the-go. The fact the neck folds out horizontally makes it really great for focus stacking on oddly placed targets.

  • Gimbal tripod head on a wooden surface

    Magnus GH-M1 Gimbal Head

Cheap and effective. Not the smoothest but at its price range I can not argue.

  • Mindshift Gear Backlight 26L Backpack

Backpacks are tricky for me as I have really bad thoracic outlet syndrome in both my shoulders. This backpack is VERY comfortable (but does not aid my medical problems). I usually store my 180-600 lens inside with my Z8, 105mm, flash with some spare room in the main compartment.

  • Modern house on a grassy hill with mountainous snowy background under cloudy sky.

Wildlife Watching Supplies C33 Medium Weight Throw Over Hide

For those times when I need to be more sneaky. Its adds about 5-10 degrees F in the full sun when under it. It stops all mosquitos and allows a medium or better breeze through it. There are some changes that need to be made with it for better ease of use BUT it works very well. Im just nitpicky on stuff like this.

  • VR headset with bee logo on wooden table indoors

    AK Diffuser

Works very well, light weight, easy to put together and put on/take off. Super fast shipping. Made well and I think it will last a really long time. Manufacturer put a lot of thought into this product and it shows.
